Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
It does not matter who you are or your station in life. We all must have as our purpose of life to “adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.”
What does it mean to adorn? The doctrine or teaching of God needs to be applied and or put in proper order. God’s order is better than man’s order. If a decorated room is an orderly room according to the plan of the decorator, then a decorated life is ordered according to the master decorator, our Creator and Saviour.
In the old days, a long burned candle might have a wick which becomes too long and would burn in a smoky manner. Before the candle is burned more, one would snuff the wick or trim it to ensure a clean burning light. So an individual needs to snuff his life to ensure that sin is not seen.
And so it is necessary to snuff our lives such that we may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

” . . . that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.” – Titus 2:8
This passage expresses the great importance given to a young man to live according to sound doctrine. If that young man shows corruptness, gravity, sincerity, and found speech, that cannot be condemned; it becomes very difficult for others to speak against him.
The phrase, “he that is of a contrary part”, refers to one who is of an opposite opinion or an antagonist. It is not uncommon that the antagonist will stand directly in front of the one he opposes and by his presence attempt to intimidate that one. Because of the sound doctrine, the one who is of a contrary part may become filled with respect and even be confounded by that doctrinal expression. The net result is likely that the antagonist will have no foul or wicked thing to say against the one who holds to sound doctrine.

“Young men . . . In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, ” – Titus 2:6-7
It is the young man who is able to do the work of the world. it is the young man who is active. Because the Bible tells the young man to the pattern of good works, every action that he makes is a teaching opportunity among others. The word “doctrine” describes this teaching process. The word doctrine means “instruction”. Young men often do not consider themselves being ones who give out significant instruction. But they are the ones whom God expects to teach the standard. In many locations, they are the only ones available.
According to Webster’s dictionary, instruction is “The act of teaching or informing the understanding in that which was before ignorant.”This is the illustration of the difference between a young man and the child. The young men become instructors in their own right as they enter into manhood.
UNCORRUPTNESS: This word indicates something which is incorruptible. It is something which is not rotted thoroughly. It does not display ruin and decay, it is not perverted. This word displays purity. Purity is freedom from foreign admixture or homogeneous matter: as the purity of water. Cleanness: freedom from foulness or dirt: as the purity of a garment. Freedom from guilt or the defilement of sin: innocence: as purity of heart or life. – Webster’s dictionary.
The word here used does not occur elsewhere in the New Testament. It means, here, the same as purity – that which is not erroneous, and which does not tend to corrupt or vitiate the morals of others, or to endanger their salvation. Everything in his teaching was to be such as to make men purer and better. – Barnes Notes

“One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;”
– Titus 1:12-13
It is highly important that people be healthy in their moral conviction – their faith. Today, hosts of others make great effort to corrupt good men. Their efforts of persuasion are intense and come from every corner.
How should we respond to them? Take the truth and then “rebuke them sharply.” What does this mean? We need to confute them. We need to disprove their words. We need to prove why their words are false, defective or invalid. We need to overthrow their erroneous reasoning. We need to admonish them with the truth. We do this by notifying and warning them of their fault. We need to counsel them against wrong practice. We need to caution or advise them. Once you know their purposeful objective in speech, they need to be cut off abruptly and even peremptorily. Few people are practiced in this. many people need to learn.
A sound and healthy faith must be practiced and defended. The corruption of faith and sound doctrine is all too frequent.

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the
gainsayers. – Titus 1:9
A leader needs to be able to call another near, that is to invite, invoke (by imploration, horation or consolation). The purpose of this action is to advise; to warn; to caution. He uses earnest supplication. This is to exhort one.
Just to have another in your hearing is not sufficient. It is also important to convince them regarding doctrine. This body of truth is the Word of God. It is the yard stick by which all is measured. The effort is to persuade or satisfy the mind by this evidence. The objective is to subdue the opposition of the mind to truth.
It is the gainsayer which is the focus of this verse. He is one who is inclined to dispute or refuse the doctrine of truth which is in Jesus Christ. The gainsayer will take the position which is opposite of God. He may be one to lay forth another position, a systematic or set discourse, an unhealthy position, instead of that of sound doctrine.

“Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine . . . ” – Titus 1:9
When one is able, he is capable. He may express that which is powerful. What is in his grasp is possible. This capability does not come from innate strength. It comes by means of assist. This assist comes from doctrine that is sound.
Doctrine contains a body of truth which is placed into the hands of another by the process of instruction. It is something learned for the purpose that the learner teaches it to another.
The soundness of doctrine is important! Soundness implies that which has health. It suggests wellness, as wellness of body. In this case the information imparted is not sick. The implication is that there is no corruptness contained in or imparted in the indoctrination or teaching process. The measure of soundness is only according to the standard of God. He is the Creator.
