The Fear of God

2Ch 20:29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.

Ne 5:15 But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

The nature of those who fear not God Psalm 36

1 ¶ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
4 He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil
The balance of the psalm deals with the righteous.

Romans 3
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

We need to be perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

2Co 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

The descriptive principle of perfecting holiness is described below.

2 Corinthians 6:
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Submission to one another and not being lords over others is a characteristic of fearing God

Ephesians 5:21 ¶ Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

One another is a term which speaks of submitting to those of the same kind and type, the spiritual persons, those who are a part of the church and wives and husbands one to each other. Remember, while the husband is the responsible one before God, and he is the administrative head, there is also a submission principle involved whereby he cares for the wife as he would his own body.

Eph 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

The verse above this also brings into greater detail the respect and care which he gives his wife. There is a cherishing principle involved here that many men pridefully and selfishly like to overlook. All of this has relationship to the "fear of God."
